Nampak gayanya blog ni updated setahun sekali hahaha. I'm so used to typing in phone keyboard with predictive word, rasa macam lembab pulak menaip kat laptop ni ahaha.
Anyway, yesterday I've just go through iodine treatment for my hyperthyroid yang aku pernah ceritakan kat sini - Hyperthyroidism Summary. So turns out, even after delivery, my hormone thyroid is still degil, turun naik turun naik. Mungkin kerana kadang2 ada tertinggal makan ubat jugak. Tapi tak la selalu. Sgt jarang.
So sebab dah almost 2 years makan ubat PTU and then sambung with Carbimazole. Start makan dalam bulan Nov 2018, so sekarang dah Oct 2020. Iman pun dah almost 1 tahun 4 bulan.
Why have to go for this treatment? Okay, aku explain ikut pemahaman aku ye. Hyperthyroid ni adalah bila, tyhroid gland (mesin yg produce hormon thyroid tu) produce too much of thyroid hormone. Why is it bad? Sebab thyroid hormones control banyak benda dalam badan manusia, termasuklah heart beat, muscle, kesuburan & sebagainyalah. So if its too much, nnt sytem badan kita kucar kacir la. Having too much of something is never good. So the uses of iodine in this treatment akan, melumpuhkan thryriod gland tu kot rasanya daripada produce hormon tu lagi. Ataupun maybe dia macam nak reset balik the system of thryroid gland tu. Iodin akan buang semua hormon yg ada dekat situ, so dia akan reset & start fresh. & having hypothyroid is soo much better than having hyperthyroid. So insya Allah, semuanya baik2 saja. Gee power. I can do it. My body can do it.
So doctor actually dah cakap pasal iodine treatment ni few times dah actually. Dia dah start explain dalam beberapa few appointments sebelum we proceed to it. So mula2 kena tengok result darah. Ada level dia, Hormone tak boleh terlalu tinggi. Doc cakap kena dalam T4 30 ke bawah mcm tu. So lepas latest result darah is okay, terus doc setkan appointment.
And my situation kinda ideal to proceed with it. Sebab iman tak susu badan. Dia susu formula, sebab if proceed with the treatment, you have to give up the breastfeeding for the current baby. But for next baby should be no problem. So they have to made sure, I'm not pregnant also. And I'm not because I'm on contraceptive pills. Sebab baby can affected directly & janin boleh rosak & you can have misscarriage because the iodine has radioactive.
I okay aje. For me Iman still small lagi. I'm not ready. Iman not ready. So okay sahaja. And after 6 months of this treatment, then I can proceed for second baby. Hopefully all is well. And the next time I go to IKN, I'll be just for normal check up. Aminn with me pls.
Okay so the treatment is at IKN, Institute Kanser Negara. Knowing that I have to do the treatment there, rasa cuaks la jugak, tp so far untuk government mmg dekat situ je. So takyah pikir banyak. Bayaran sekali minum RM125 je. I think its quiet okay for the amount sebab masa jumpa doc, doc cakap the meds are from German.
So the process is, Hospital Melaka will have our consent to book the appointment for iodine treatment with IKN. Then IKN will call us directly to tell us the date. So my last appointment with Endocrine Clinic, Hospital Melaka is on 2nd of Sept. IKN called me on 22nd of Sept, and the date for the treatment is yesterday lah, 21st Oct. So pada aku since sekarang PKP, quite cepat la dapat date.
So sebelum tarikh tiba, kita arrange for Iman's punya tempat tinggal, sebab lepas minum iodin, I have tp quarantine my self for 8 days. Sebab radioactive can damaging people somehow especially kids under 12 years old & pregnant women. They are high risk category. 1st thought mmg nak tinggal dengan atok mak dia. Dah pernah cakap before ni. Tapi macam2 la pikir. Takut susahkan la, takut gaduh dengan hasya la haha, takut takleh handle la. Biasalah mak2 ni. And I never not meet Iman a day. And Iman tak pernah tak ada salah sorang, mama/ayah. Aku pernah la keluar nak jumpa mama & ada event, tp malam masih jumpa Iman. Dan Iwan pernah la masa pantang tak jumpa Iman, but Iman ada mama dia. So kitorg cuak jugak. Iman boleh ke? Kesimpulannya overthinking la.
Lepas tu terpikir nak hantar pengasuh la. Tapi pengasuh mintak RM900 for 8 days. Haha. Gua is tak mampu. So end up hantar rumah atok mak jugak. Tp dah tanya adik (read adik Iwan), boleh handle tak, dia cakap boleh. So onz saja. Lagi bagus Iman stays within family. Sekarang dah 2 malam dia tidur dengan atok mak. Alhamdulillah, dari cerita & perkhabaran, he's adjusting very well. Alhamdulillah ya Allah, Kau mudahkan urusan2 mereka yg menjaga Iman.
So hari semalam ke IKN, we decided to check in dekat Cyberjaya a day before, sebab appointment pagi pukul 9, so nak gerak dari Pahang (lepas hantar Iman) jauh tuuu. So pagi2 pukul 8 lebih dah check out sesiap. Sampai IKN terus daftar dekat Pesakit Luar sebab first timer. Okay then dia suruh terus pergi Perubatan Nuklear (Diagnostik). So bagi kad yg baru dapat tadi, then dapat nombor. Tunggu turn. Normal check up. Jumpa doc, minum iodine & settle.
Iodine tu kita akan minum dalam satu bilik. Then dia akan letak dalam satu bekas tembikar. Sikit sangat bendanya. Tak sempat nak menikmati pun. Lepas tu kita akan sedut guna straw. Tapi tangan semua takleh pegang tembikar & straw tu. Just tunduk & sedut sahaja. & dia akan bilas bekas tu dengan air masak, & kita akan sedut lagi sekali habiskan saki baki dia. Rasa dia macam plain water je. Lepas tu terus balik. Jgn merayau tak tentu hala. Lepas sejam minum tu, baru boleh makan.
So far staff IKN semua baik & mesra sangat2. Doc pun terangkan & answer all my question very clearly. I give them A for service. Tip top. Oh 7 hari sebelum rawatan, kena pantang makan seafood & telur kuning nurse cakap sebab mengandungi iodin jugak, so takut dia react dengan iodin yg kita minum tu. Lepas minum, takyah pantang dah. But to be save, tunggulah 2 3 hari.
And what happen to me after the treatment? Tekak rasa kesat & kering sikit. & thyroid gland tu membengkak. Sebab dia tengah kerja nak hilangkan all the hormon. Masa memula bangun petang tadi, rasa macam, aku tidur salah ke, then rasa tekak, uish bengkaknya. Ada rasa perit nak telan air liur, rasa sakit sikit la mcm ada tension kat kiri kanan tekak ni. Rasa nak muntah sikit2. But still manageable la. I'm all aware of the side effects.
